QUINCY, Mass.—A greater Boston-area tribute to Minister Don Muhammad, and his wife and companion in struggle, Sister Shirley Muhammad, drew Muslims and admirers from across the country.

With a keynote address Sept. 10 delivered by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan topping off the evening celebration, it was filled with acknowledgment of the impact of the life and ministry of “The Don,” as the Nation of Islam minister was affectionately known for wisdom and skill in handling Black affairs in Boston, the state of Massachusetts and forging powerful effective relationships to protect Black interests while leading Muhammad Mosque No. 11. Min. Don Muhammad was feted with words, song and testimony about his years of commitment and effort as he steps away from public life to care for his wife, who suffers from health challenges.

This was the Don and Shirley Show, said Min. Farrakhan, highlighting how the strength of the Muslim couple and their loving partnership had an incredible impact in the Nation of Islam, in the city and state, and as entrepreneurs. This is no retirement party and there is no gold watch for Brother Don, whose shoes, or impact, are still growing, added Min. Farrakhan.

Several hundred people attended the sold-out affair at The Lantana banquet facility.
