organizers hit home stretch
WASHINGTON�As planning for the Oct. 16
Million Family March enters the home stretch, 200 national march
organizers met with the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, convener of
the march, and a Congressional Black Caucus march task force kicked into
high gear. The representatives of Local and State Organizing Committees
met with Min. Farrakhan at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel to give march
progress reports and hear from the leader of the Nation of Islam.

Urban life leaves girls
with emotional wounds
WASHINGTON�Keisha is 18-years-old. In her
short life, the Black teen has been in several fights, seen her mother
beat up and watched a friend get stabbed. Her
baby�s father once pulled a gun on her, threatening to shoot if she
didn�t leave his apartment. It was just another day in the neighborhood
for Keisha, who says her friends have nearly the same experiences. Rarely
does a day go by when she doesn�t hear about or witness some traumatic
event.

corporate America has spent nearly a billion dollars a year through
their Washington lobbyists to enact legislation that is in the best
interest of corporate America, while not necessarily in the best
interest of the masses of the American people. Corporate America is
now buying up newspapers, radio and television stations to control the
means of dissemination of information to the American people. This is
a further erosion of the principle of governance of, by, and for the
people.
