Farrakhan challenges leaders to seek justice in peace process
CHICAGOLeaders today are demonstrating bankruptcy in the quality of leadership necessary in this time of world crisis, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan declared April 14 to nearly 4,000 people crammed into Mosque Maryam and the adjoining gymnasium of Muhammad University of Islam.  As a result, the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians threatens to draw the world into a global war, he said.  Im going to do everything in my power to stop this war, the outspoken Minister told the audience. If you dont try to stop it over there, the same will (one day) be at your doorstep, he warned. more

Black congresswoman wants answers about Sept. 11, seeks public probe
WASHINGTONRep.Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga.) wants a full investigation into deadly Sept. 11 attacks at the World Trade Center and Pentagon, including whether the Bush administration had advance notice and whether the defense and oil industries have unduly influenced U.S. policy.  "The need for an investigation of the events surrounding Sept. 11 is as obvious as is the need for an investigation of the Enron debacle. Certainly, if the American people deserve answers about what went wrong with Enron and why (and we do), then we deserve to know what went wrong on September 11 and why," said Ms. McKinney in a statement released April 12. more

The 100 prisoners who have been freed from death row since 1976mostly after DNA evidence conclusively proved their innocencerepresent the exception rather than the rule in the U.S. capital punishment system, according to William F. Schulz, executive director of Amnesty International USA (AIUSA).  more
