Men want
to improve lives of children and are challenging anti-fatherhood
policies
The U.S. is the worlds leader of
fatherless families, say advocates in a national movement to support the
often difficult task of fatherhood. Black, Latino and communities of
color in America must lead the way to reverse the cycle, many believe.
Chicago Congressman Danny K. Davis (D-Ill.), who spearheaded a Fathers
Issues Forum and Resource Fair in early June, recently co-sponsored two
fatherhood bills in the House.

taken to task on Sudan

Your article
"Suddenly In The Sudan a Moment To Care" is just the latest
piece that contributes to the avalanche of misinformation and
half-truths on the situation in the Sudan. Although you cloak much
of the article with religious language and a focus on an emerging
role for Former Sudanese Prime Minister Sadeq al-Mahdi, you leave
out so many critical facts that it is hard to take your trial
balloon floating al-Mahdi as a peace mediator seriously.

The
road to an African Union
Never before have a people had
within their grasp so great an opportunity for developing a continent
endowed with so much wealth. Individually, the independent states of
Africa, some of them potentially rich, others poor, can do little for
their people. Together, by mutual help, they can achieve much. But the
economic development of the continent must be planned and perused as a
whole. A loose confederation designed only for economic co-operation
would not provide the necessary unity of purpose. Only a strong
political union can bring about full and effective development of our
material resources for the benefit of our people.
U.S. undermines racism conference,
activists warn
CHICAGOThe U.S. and other western nations
still strongly oppose placing slavery and reparations on the agenda of
the UNs upcoming World Conference Against Racism, slated for Aug. 31 to
Sept. 7 in South Africa. Activists are trying to get the word out about
U.S. opposition and want Black Americans to journey to Durban, South
Africa, to help make sure these issues arent swept aside by western
pressure.
