'World's leading democracy' isn't human rights leader, Amnesty says
(FinalCall.com)�Amnesty International�s condemnation of rights abuses abroad is well documented, but its annual report for 2001 put the spotlight on a new violator of rights: The United States of America.  The �world�s greatest democracy� and self-appointed guardian of human rights �has abdicated its duty to lead,� declared William Schultz, the executive director of Amnesty International USA, during the May 30 release of the group�s yearly catalog of rights heroes, villains and violations.
