Black America contemplates uncertain future under Bush administration

WASHINGTONDespite his appointment of two Blacks to high positions in his administration, the Black community is cautiously sizing-up President-elect George W. Bush as he adjusts himself in the countrys seat of power.   Hes going to have to get beyond the symbolism of Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell, said Dr. Ronald Walters, professor of political science at the University of Maryland, regarding the appointments to the posts of secretary of state and national security adviser, respectively. That sure aint enough.

The road to redemption
Controversy swirls around nomination of former gang member for Nobel Prize

(FinalCall.com)--Stanley Tookie Williams has a lot to be sorry for. Legend has it he is the author of drive by shootings, neighborhood enforcement, drug dealings, extortion and a host of other gang-related activities.  Currently, he sits on San Quentins death row for the murder of four people.  Thats a hell of a past to escape for the co-founder of the CRIPS (Community Reform Inner Party Service), one of the largest street organizations in America.  But there may be a light at the end of this dark and dreary tunnel. more

Nigeria, S. Africa call for international support of Zimbabwe land reform effort

HARARE (IPS)Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria and South Africas Thabo Mbeki have called on the world to support Zimbabwes land reform program saying non-resolution of the issue meant the countrys liberation war was not over.  We should not lose sight that and until land reform is carried out in a way that will satisfy the majority of the people of Zimbabwe, it will be the unfinished work of liberation, said Mr. Obasanjo on behalf of the presidents. more

Love Ye One Another,
Even As I Have Loved You

by Minister Louis Farrakhan

This world talks a lot about love, but to understand love is to understand the core out of which God operates. Love is not an emotion. Its not that tender feeling that one gets in the heart when you see someone you are attracted to. We are not talking about love on the base level.

Questions don't matter to FBI agents opposed to Peltier clemency bid

WASHINGTONSeveral hundred FBI agents in trench coats and sunglasses solemnly marched to the White House Dec. 15, saying President Clinton should not consider American Indian Movement (AIM) leader Leonard Peltier for executive clemency. Their protest came despite questions about government misconduct in the case and an admission from the partner of the slain agents that he never saw Mr. Peltier shoot them.
