We are entering a very dark period in our
history, in America�s history and in world history. It behooves us
to settle our differences and begin the process of healing the wounds that
are self-inflicted or that have been inflicted by others so that as a
people we can present to the world a united front. It is only a united
front of Black leadership and Black people that will take us through this
very dark period with minimum loss. This is why I have chosen the
theme for our World Convention, �Healing the Wounds to Bring About a
Universal Family.�

Muslim pilot survives small plane crash, one
passenger missing,
one dead in accident
SAN DIEGO�A single-engine plane transporting
three Muslims plummeted into the ocean just off the coast of San Diego
on Dec. 25, killing Celina Muhammad, 29, of Inglewood, Calif., who died
before rescuers could get to the scene. Her husband, Edward Muhammad, was still missing; and pilot Jamal
Muhammad, 26, who survived the crash and spent several days in an
intensive care unit, was scheduled to be released from the hospital at
Final Call press time. All three were members of the Nation of
Islam�s Muhammad Mosque No. 27 in Los Angeles.

with the trappings of wealth, sexual conquests and personal vanity.
