WASHINGTON�The National Black Leadership Roundtable (NBLR) sponsored an Emergency Leadership Summit on Voter Rights Denial on Jan. 4 at the Howard University School of Law, challenging Black leadership to develop a proactive response to the suppression of the Black vote, the denial of people�s constitutional right to vote and to have those votes count.

Ghana's new leader seeks unity

ACCRA (PANA) Ghana's new President, John Agyekum Kufuor, on Sunday called for collective efforts to revive the ailing economy, reconcile the people and build on the evolving democratic dispensation. "We have work to do and that starts today. Our greatest enemy is poverty. And the battle against poverty starts with reconciling our people and forging ahead in unity," Kufuor said in his maiden speech shortly after he was sworn in as Ghana's fifth President. more
