Ignorance,
jealousy and envy:
Obstacles to the rise of God's people

Farrakhan
The TravelerVolume One is composed of articles that I wrote for
The Final Call from the summer of 1981 through the end of
October 1984.
My aim in those years,
and ever since, in all that Ive
written and spoken about the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, was
and is to help others see this magnificent Black man more like Allah
and His Christ saw and see him.
In the course of this effort, Ive had to take up
the subject of jealousy and envy. There has never been a Black leader
in America who has not suffered from those whose hearts are diseased
with jealousy and/or envy.
Given both the depth to which we have fallen, and
the depth of the depravity of our former slave-masters, opposition to
any Black leader, working to lift us from hell, will intensify in
proportion to that leaders nearness to the Almighty God.
Given the condition of the people of America, the
maximum degree of opposition is to be directed to those directly
chosen by the Divine Supreme Being, to reeducate, reform, and free
Black people of America.
A major factor in this opposition is the
exploitation of jealousy and envy, which already exists, in Black
people. We must know the history of Black people in America, to
understand that deadly form of jealousy and envy, which has
plagued us as a people during our stay in America. Think into this.
Human beings always make comparisons between human
beings and between things. Without the ability to make comparisons we
would have no science; humans could never become civilized; progress
would be impossible.
It is not the comparisons that are evil, in and of
themselves. Its why and how we make comparisons that determines
whether or not jealousy and or envy arises in our hearts. Jealousy and
envy are among the worst spiritual diseases which we must be
absolutely freed from if we are to see the best part of the hereafter.
These diseases are love killers! The Holy Quran gives terrible
warnings to those of us who "blow" our salvation due to
these diseases.
Its impossible to grow into ones own divinitywhich
also means growing ever closer to Allahexcept to the extent that we
remove envy and jealousy from our hearts. After we have heard and read
about these spiritual diseases, it is still up to each person to do
this service for themselves.
Weve heard that God helps those who help
themselves. Does God ever help those before they help themselves? In
the case of the Black man and woman of America, God had to help us
before we could even begin to help ourselves.
In a speech made by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad,
in the 1960s, he took up a part of the 16th chapter of the book of
Ezekiel and interpreted it for us. He took us deep into the
unfathomable love of the Almighty for usa wretched people.
In the book of Ezekiel, were pictured as a newly
born baby, unwashed, not cared for, on whom none looked with pity or
compassion. It reads that on the day we were born we were despised.
Then it says that the Lord saw us in this terrible condition and like
the good Samaritan, in a parable made by Jesus, He took charge and
took care of us.
In the very significant fifth chapter of Romans, we
are given another example of the depth of the love of the Almighty for
us. In the light of the wisdom of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, a
reading of various translations of Romans 5:6, 7 and 8 can produce a
deeper sense of humility and gratitude, in us-you toowho
are the focus of the divine love described in this chapter.
How can you continue to doubt Gods love for you
in the light of the words and works of Minister Farrakhan? If you dont
see, it is because you refuse to see.
Isnt it interesting how often we act like Hagar,
looking for that which is right under our noses? Look at the valuable
jewels of truths are to be found in the study guides of Minister
Farrakhan, which far too many of us do not value as we should.
The quality of our participation, in the study
sessions, with his study guidesor our absence from such meetingsreflects
the quality of our understanding, or lack thereof, of the divine
purpose and value in those study guides. Lets do better.
Minister Farrakhan is an international leader as
well as an educator of the highest quality and rank. Nevertheless,
there are those among us, who claim to love him, but who deeply
dislike one another. Do you realize how dangerous this is? We are not
Muslims, unless or until we love for each other that which we love for
ourselves. Love "for each other," at the very least,
includes, to have empathy with, or for, your fellow believing brother
or sister.
If we are among the followers of Minister Farrakhan
and we continue to carry covert hatreds, resentments, etc., and since
we are right at the END, then we stand in danger of absolutely losing
our salvation, and of entering the worst part of hell, here and
hereafter. Lets resolve such problems real soon. Time is running
out.
Master Fard Muhammad urged us to study. The
Honorable Elijah Muhammad urged us to study. Minister Farrakhan urges
us to study. If we continue in ignorance, the quality of our love will
never grow or mature into the kind of love that produces the unity
that God wants us to have to survive the fall of this world, that we
are yet in, and to help build His kingdom.
Proper study is at the root of our growth into that
love, which helps us to get rid of envy and jealousy. Minister
Farrakhans call to us reminds me of the call to prayer. In both
calls we are urged to come to success, or full self-development. In
both instances we are invited to learn how to utilize the means of our
own self-development. And if we pray properly (which is also a form of
the highest study) we realize that we cannot develop unless we also
help others in their development.
Today (the day the article was written) is December
29th. For the five weeks, since Ive been "down," Ive
thought of what could I place, in this column, that would be timely
and usefulespecially at this time, so that I would have more time
to heal. Ive thought about the crucial subject of "type"
and "anti-type," which I covered in articles at the end of
1982 and for a few months into 1983.
This subject is critical in developing divine
insight. Its an excellent way to gain a deeper understanding of the
justification of Gods control, and/or influence over the
consequences of the actions of men and nations, to make it all serve
His purposes with divine prophesy.
I intend to take up this subject of
"types," which I covered 18 years ago, the study of which
(in my case) began in 1957, from the Honorable Elijah Muhammads use
of the terms "type, and "anti-type." This study helps
us in understanding our Beloved Minister Farrakhan.
Meanwhile, and for now, I am drawing from eight
chapters in the as yet to be published book, Farrakhan Gods Man
On The Straight Path. These chapters deal with "Moses and the
Wise Man." Well then take up the subject of types, etc. This
may take a few months.
Were an impatient people. Our impatience makes
what is difficult more difficult. Impatience makes resolving conflicts
harder to do. Perhaps reading the following books will cause us to
improve our appreciation of the wonderful fountain of wisdom contained
in Minister Farrakhans study guides. His study guides, and the
speech out of which they came, constitute the launching pad of a
world-wide movement. Can we really say that we are really a part of
this movement, in the best sense, unless welike Minister Farrakhanare
in the love of one another? Without this kind of love, we dont really
love him, nor the Two Who back him!
Consider: "Coping With Difficult People,"
by Dr. Robert M. Bramson; "Resolving Conflicts," by Wendy
Grant; "Dealing With People You Cant Stand," by Dr.
Brinkman and Dr. Kirschner; "Forgiving the Unforgivable (sub-titlted,
Overcoming the Bitter Legacy of Intimate Wounds)" by Beverly
Flanigan, M.S.S.W.
I began writing on Moses and the Wise Man, for The
Final Call, with the intention of making a book. I wrote the first
five articles in two days. Here is how it began.
"This is being written on what is called Good
Friday, April 1, 1988; also called by some, April Fools Day.
This didnt occur to me until I sat down to write these words.
"It occurs to me, however, that the ironies
and paradoxes involved in: Good Friday and April Fools Dayif
we had space to go into themmight make a very interesting means of
introducing an in depth commentary, or essay, on the prophecy that
involves Moses traveling with an unnamed Divinely-Wise Man, as
described in the Holy Quran.
"The scholars and scientists are divided over
whether Surah 18:60-82 is referring to a historical event or a
spiritual experience of Moses, such as a vision. In either case, what
we have here, is that which points to something to come, well after
the time of Moses. In fact, these words refer to that which would
occur in the time period called the resurrection of the dead and the
judgment of the world; which is now."
