Cuba prepares lawsuit against U.S. for 'genocide'

HAVANA (IPS)�The Cuban parliament has paved the way for a lawsuit against the United States based on accusations that the nearly 40-year-old economic embargo against the island constitutes an act of "genocide" against the Cuban people.

Bomb explodes at Florida A&M University

Federal and local authorities are investigating a bomb planted on the campus of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Fla., a historically Black institution, that they say was designed to kill. Based on telephone calls, authorities are treating the incident as a hate crime and are offering a $10,000 reward for information about the crime. A caller told the university and a TV station that the bomb was set off to "kill n��s."

If we would stop drinking, and put that 2 billion dollars to work, every Black College in America would be finely supported. If we would stop drinking and throwing away money on dope and other frivolous forms of "pleasure," we could build up a mighty, independent existence. White people allow us to take 100 billion dollars out of the economy, but we refuse to be wise and use that money to build for ourselves.

Latino cops sue NYPD

NEW YORK�While the New York Police Department (NYPD) attempts to maneuver itself around the number of pending investigations looking into police brutality and misconduct charges, it�s been hit with a lawsuit which highlights the discriminatory practices within their disciplinary process. The Latino Officers Association has filed a federal lawsuit against NYPD, charging the department disproportionately disciplines officers of color more harshly than their white counterparts.

Africa must shape its own destiny, official says
