Gun manufacturer
accountability
07/28/1999
Yes, to some degree gun manufactors should be held accountable but the guns on our streets
are illegilly purchased guns. Since black folk own no gun shops, we don't hunt (except
each other) there should be no guns sold in our neighborhoods legal or illegal. Gun
manufacturers should only be allowed to manufacturer a certain amount of asault weapons
and ammunition per year. Any gun manufacturer caught producing more than there alloted
number, the owner should be jailed for life. Anyone caught selling guns illegally gets
life.

Gun Manufacturer Suit
07/28/1999
I don't think that the gun manufacturers are at fault for gang
violence. Suing them can jeopardize American's right to buy and carry arms. It is the
responsibility of the Black community to raise our youth so that they don't use firearms
irresponsibly.

Lawsuit against gun manufacturers
07/28/1999
I don't necessarily have a problem with the lawsuit. My biggest problem is where, how
& who they are targeting.
Black people in particular have been complaining about the
problems with guns in our communities for a very long time, but our cries were ignored.
Now that "the problem" has reached other segments of society politicians now
want to bring it up as a major issue. They have even brought high school students from
Colorado to Washington D C to speak & give their concerns.
To sum it up, not only should the NAACP go after gun
manufacturers, they should also go after politicians (both donkeys & elephants) for
not addressing the problem (which is worse) in the black community. It's sort of a slap in
the face.

How long will we continue to blame someone else for our stupidty. When will we eliminate
the drugs, guns, alcohol, tobacco, thieves, pimps (preachers), murderers, etc., etc.?
Personal responsibility is whats required.

No way do I support the lawsuit. Did the gun manufacturers place those guns in the hands
of crooks and murderers? I don't think so. Blaming the gun manufacturers for the woes and
ills of a particular society is ridiculous. What happened to community pride, parenting,
personal pride, and personal integrity. Blaming the gun manufacturers for crime and murder
is admitting you can't control your own environment. What a shame.

Yes, gun manufacturers should be held accountable. Making weapons of mass-distruction and
seeing what is happening to Black people and the human family is a crime.

My father and all his friends were hunters and owned guns. We as children did not even go
into our parents room let alone take something out of the house that they owned. I'm
trying to say that the Black community has lost control of the family because of the
Government and our dependency on them making laws for us. We have the obligation
from GOD to teach our children what is right and to blame anyone but ourselves for the
things we do is a prison in itself. Teach your kids to obey GOD and they will Obey
you. No lawsuit will stop the killing, we must.

Need for immediate reform in gun laws
7/31/99
Hetepu, In Maat and with Djhty in the balance it is most important that the leaders of the
US governmental agencies make serious and drastic reforms in gun legislation. Many of our
children's lives are being threatened by the sick and degenerate beings who have been
allowed to continually purchase guns haphazardly with no proper background check and so
forth. This has affected our Afrakan community most severely to the point that we
have engaged in self-inflicted genocidal tendencies and practices which are becoming
extended from generation to generation. We need to have these elected leaders stand up for
what upholds truth, justice and righteousness-first.

GUNS

No i do not hold the manufactures liable. I hold the owners liable. I am a 45 year old
black man who has never owned a gun. If i had one i would probaly either be dead or in
prison. i don't think with fear. i think that GOD IS ALWAYS WITH ME my protector. the gun
is only the protector of the FEARFUL.

NAACP's Federal Lawsuit

If the lawsuit is successful --that is the plainiffs receive a monetary reward, then this
outcome will be another bandage on a much larger problem. In one respect the gun
manufacturers are responsible for providing a means by which destruction of human life can
occur, however, we must look at the deeper cause for the desire to want to own a gun.

All Praises Due
It is past time! I am so thankful that our men are standing up and taking on their
God given roles as leaders, kings of our castles, role models and teachers (to mention a
few).
Guns and drugs inundate our poorer communities
by no accident. The ignorant are always easy prey. It truly does take the whole village,
and I am so happy to witness the village elders and spokespersons stepping up to the
challenge of holding the gunmakers accountable for the products they produce. It is only
logical to understand that the producer of the product will induce the demand for the
product they produce either overtly, or subliminally.
Poorer, powerless, communities, have
historically been covertly targeted without the cohorts ever being held legally
responsible for their actions, intent, or riches derived from the sufferings of those
subjected to the ramifications of the products of destruction they produce.
May the village be strengthened with
righteousness and lawfulness.

Gun Manufacturers

I adamently feel that the Manufacturers should be held accountable for the production of
the weapons, that has been furnished in our neighborhoods. The United States has
seductively created a self-hating mindset for the Black youth, and thus gave them the
means to act out this self destruction. How else can violence run amuck in our
communities, unless there is the mind frame to harvest such a sick mental seed, and the
means to carry out the genocidal destruction of our Young teenage Brothers and Sisters. I
feel that America should add up every thing they have cost the Black Man and Woman, and
every avenue they have cost us--should be examined, for retribution. The natural order for
a human being is Justice--by Universal Law. We should EXPECT justice on every means and
through every institution.

No...I do not feel that gun manufacturers should
be penalized for injuries and deaths caused by guns. This is just as wrong as punishing
car manufacturers for the myriad deaths caused by drunk drivers and agressive drivers.
Each person should be held responsible for their own actions. Also, many of the guns used
in the murders around the country are illegally obtained.

Gun manufactures should get a grip on where these guns are being sold. Furthermore, they
should not be sold to dealers that are in high crime or drug infested areas. They have to
find a way to limited the sale of their products and to certain dealerships only.

When will we take responsibility for our actions? Guns do not discharge themselves. Swift
and mandatory punishment of those who use guns to commit crimes is the only answer that
will preserve the Rights of Law Abiding Citizens to self protection. How about an
acknowledgment of the countless crimes prevented yearly by responsible armed citizens.
