Does Democratic Party
take Black vote for granted

9/29/1999

Yes they do!...take us for granted!

What do they have to SACRIFICE in order to get the Black vote?...NOTHING!  What demands are imposed upon the Democratic Party...None!

During the last 2 elections, correct me if I am wrong, they IGNORED the Black vote and still received a majority of it.

Besides, from the Democrat's perspective, both Black & White, where else do we have to go. This why the NOI is vital.

Democrats take black vote for granted
9/29/1999

Democrats take the black vote for granted because the blacks are divided and unorganized making it easy for us to be manipulated by the slick talking politicians. We need to unite behind Min. Farrakhan and work in the best interest of the masses of our people.

Democratic party taking black votes for granted
10/1/1999

The Democratic Party does take black votes for granted. Not only do they assume that the vote of the black, the oppressed and the blue collar worker lies with them, but so do the people. During the time of Reconstruction in the South, it was the Republican Party that implemented changes for the " better". Although it is true that their purpose for implementing those changes--and any other changes they made and will make, was for their own benefit. My point is that the people must begin to research political parties for themselves and not lay claim to the one with the name value, but lay claim to the one who is sincere about change for the better. Talk about finding a needle in a
haystack!

Does the democratic party take the African American vote for granted
10/2/1999

Because Blacks allow the democratic party to take our vote for granted. The democratic party doesn't care about the Black community, if it did the prison industry wouldn't be one of the fastest growing industries in America. The welfare bill would not have been signed by Clinton, and Affirmative action would not have been dismantled under Clinton's watch.

The democratic party are just the keepers of the status quo.
Now that the Hispanic population is projected to surpass in numbers, I see candidates like Al Gore trying his best to speak Spanish to try to impress and appease the Latino voter. As the paradigm is now changing from the civil rights movement to the increasing Latino vote, so the democratic party is falling over themselves to attract the Latinos as the new minorities to have in their pockets.

We never learned how to use the power that we had and now that the sun is about to set upon that power/leverage, we still refuse to wake up and smell the coffee.

Why shouldn't the democratic party take us for granted? We have been stupid enough to buy their wolf tickets and believe their empty rhetoric for years. We hold no one to accountability, and refuse to take what little power that we have into our own hands.

We fall all over any white man that smiles at us and gives us the time of day, while we mistrust ourselves and our ability to do for ourselves what we believe that others can do for us. Hey, if it appears that we don't care for and about our children then why should the democratic party or anyone else care about them.

That's just my opinion on the subject.

Taken For Granted
10/4/1999

It is an absolute truth the Black vote is taken for granted. Yet we don't know how to vote effectively. We need to be a people of issues and not party. I believe we should be Independent/Moderate. I've read agendas of the republican party that has potential as well as the reform party. The bottom line is it's time out for the same old depending on Government as answers to the issues that exist in our community. In my opinion less government the better off we will be. I've learned that from the Honorable Elijah Muhammad- Do for self!

Does The Democratic Party take the Black Vote for Granted

I do not believe that holding the Democratic Party responsible for our apathy toward the political process is justifiable. They have consistently utilized our vote to promote their candidates and we have remained loyal to this party only because of their positions against conservatism. Our level of accountability must be strengthened by our global awareness of what we have to offer and holding those officials accountable (both black and white) when they fail to represent our objectives. Until this happens, we have to share most of the blame on our current status in the political process.

Black democrat
10/4/1999

The democratic party doesn't see that Black people will ever stop voting for them because Blacks don't believe they have an alternative. As long as they believe that the democrat is better for Blacks than the republican, they will vote for the democrat. Black politicians must now take their responsibilities and educate the black mass of its need and then fashion an agenda according to it. Our leader, Minister Farrakhan seems to understand more of politics than veteran Black politicians. In order for politicians ( black ) to effectively keep their duty, they should now consult the man that has proven that he knows what time we live in and what must be done.
