It is abundantly clear that the trick-knowledge and deceit of the American political system has been clearly unveiled ! This sickening and quite humorous affair gives credence to the fact that these elections have always been corrupt and now the world is recognizing the skullduggery for what it is ! Furthermore all false things are perishing and whoever eventually  wins will not have any real power as a result of winning this election in a heinous fashion ! The weakening of the American presidency continues ... a sign that evil is truly on the way out !!!
Eric Satterwhite, Sacramento, CA

The apathy of voters in the USA has resulted in this undignified spectacle that masquerades as democracy. Whatever the outcome of this election it is now quite clear that real electoral reform should now be a priority. Voting should be made compulsory for all U.S. citizens with a $100 fine for persons that abstain. If people feel that this is an infringement of their 'rights' they then have the choice to spoil the ballot paper, so registering their contempt of the democratic process.
Ralph Daley, London, England

I believe that in order for the election to be fair and just to both candidates there need to be a revote in the whole nation using a computerized ballot that is used across all states. The only people that should be on the ballot should be Gore and Bush. It is the only way that we as a people will know who the people actually want and it will be the only fair way to go. The way things are being carried now makes both candidates look bad if they were to win. If it were me I would do a count of who actually voted and how many ballots were turned in because that is the way you find out if there were discrepancies if people voted twice or if there was fraud by having too many votes like in New Mexico with this mysterious extra box.
Tammy Lowkie, Woodbridge VA USA

I've seen carjacking, planes hijacked, but this is the 1st time I've seen someone officially hijack an election. Did Bush hijack the election? I don't know, but it seems fishy to me. Florida is on the east coast. The official tally from Florida should have been in about 3 hours before the official tallies for any of the west coast states. Yet, Florida held it's results to the end. Florida just so happens to be the state where George Bush's good ol' brother Jeb hails as governor.
Damn! Sounds like a hijacking to me. I don't care about 19,000 votes thrown out or the popular vote. If a man has a crew working with him that's smart enough to hijack an election, that man is smart enough to be President. I know this is more shocking than a cold shower and a slap in the face to Al Gore, but hey. This country was built on deceit, trickery and bamboozlement. You play you pay and all's fair in politricks.

It seems as though the United States' tactic of making the American public believe that they are choosing the next president has backfired.  Now the government is trying to use trickery and deceit to elect Bush in office so he can finish what his father started.

Yes, I agree that this should be taken as far as it can go with legal challenges and a complete recount, maybe another vote entirely in some parts of Florida. I also feel that Gov. Bush should be removed from office.
Sandra Thomas, Nashville, TN.

Throughout this historic '2000' electoral process, there is one outcome which becomes increasingly clearer by the day, and that is "a rush to judgment;" by an apparently impatient, arrogant, haughty and mischievous press. Who appear to be fatigued by a fundamental democratic 'American' process.

That the vote of the American people [ ought ] to take precedence over 'media polls' and a disgruntled presidential candidates' desire to 'take' office by force, threat or deception [each American would hope their vote to be valid].

A "legal" and "constitutional" system remains in place. Let's, first, exhaust all remedial measures which the process provides  -to address disputes- before drawing any decisive conclusion on just who the next president of the United States of America, shall be.

The purpose of a recount is to determine if the original count is slanted toward One of the candidates. The recount of the Florida votes clearly reflect that the original count is slanted in favor of Governor George Walker Bush. In light of the fact that Governor Bush's brother, Jeb Bush, is the Governor of Florida further indicates that the original count is TAINTED.

In my opinion, there should be a Federal Investigation to determine what laws were violated and who is responsible for attempting to disenfranchise the voters in Florida. A recount by hand or any way should be done to remedy this unjust situation.

The Republicans should be allowed to request recounts for any State that they choose, however, if that recount does not indicate that the original count is slanted toward any candidate then that should be the end of counting for that state.
Thomas Parker, Little Rock, Arkansas

It looks like this election is going to be a miscarriage of justice, which is very common in the United States. Bush is screaming from the hilltops that the recounts are unconstitutional, even though the recounts are being carried out with the full knowledge of the governor, who happens to be Bush's brother. Does anything about that fact seem a little unusual? Gore won the popular vote and the media awarded him Florida first. It is in the nation's best interest to quickly resolve the problem and then abolish the Electoral College. The United States is become the world's mockery of democracy simply because in a democracy, there is direct election of the leaders. If this were a republic, then the EC would be of use. As it stands, the EC is of no use, and it is the EC that is complicating the election process.

The Republicans and the Bush people need to give it up. And even if Bush wins, he does not have the support of the whole country because if he did, he would have won the popular vote. Still, if he wins, he has to go back and smooth over with the nation his actions in this period where he is showing himself as the arrogant, cocky individual that Gore-voters knew him to be.

If nothing else, totally new nationwide elections should be called, and they should be held on a weekend so *everyone* can vote and the media should be forbidden, until penalty of FCC revocation of their licenses, to release early results until the election is over, and all votes are counted and certified.

In Minister Farrakhan's last lecture before his successful surgery, he blessed us with clear guidance of what is currently taking place in America.

We have entered a new millennium. The first Presidential election of the new millennium has taken place. The results are confusion, chaos, fraud, irregularities, corruption, lying, stealing and perhaps soon, murder. These are the very elements that established this nation.

Minister Farrakhan has declared the 21st Century to be a century of peace. He has presented both sides with a National Agenda that will lead to this peace in America. Both sides have failed to respond. As a result, perhaps Allah is showing America and the world that all of the elements that established this nation will not survive in the new millennium. As A result, perhaps Allah is clearly showing America that without freedom, justice and equality she will no longer be allowed to rule over the people. The Minister told us that it really doesn't matter who will become the next President. Perhaps because America could have been saved if she only had repented. It is no coincidence that Allah has silenced The Minister's voice until after the next President is sworn into office. This is truly the lull before the storm. We must heed the Final Call. The Final War has begun. "Get a late pass!"

The chaos and confusion in the 2000 Presidential Election confirms that she is not in good standing with Allah (God).

To professes to be a Christian, God Loving Nation on one hand while the other (this election) has exposed how she is severely divided along race, social, economic and gender lines.

The Bible warns that a house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe were witnessing something more serious than who will be President.

Why should we continue to listen to what black leaders say? This whole thing reminds me of the PidePiper. Playing what we want to hear. In other words. Leading us right back to America. Why do I say this? Because the Honorable Elijah Muhammad would never tell black people to go and vote.  ..he said do something for self. Who cares if its a miscarriage of justice. You are giving black people a choice between, SATAN or the DEVIL. Neither of the two has no justice in him to give to the Blackman.....  So why wait for the Devil..?
Nazereth Muhammad, Houston, Texas

Editor's Note:
In 1963, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad did in fact advise the masses of his people to vote.  Please see: Elect Our Own Candidates

America exposed, the hypocrisy of this country is being manifest to the
American people, causing them to awaken to see the reality that exists, lies
..deceit, and trickery being used on them by the wise and the wealthy. The
people have voted, now they know the old clich "by the people and for he
people " really means "buy" corporations and for corporations.
Vernon Muhammad, Pleasantville, New Jersey

Citizens of the United States are witnessing another coup.  A political coup devoid of common-placed [according to the media] artillery, and military personnel. The media generates stories that coups require bullets and bloodshed, and only occur in so-called third world nations.  This is one of the greatest stories, and lies of all times.  Furthermore, I find it quite interesting that the 27,000 votes thrown out by  Duval County or Jacksonville, Florida is not an issue in the media's controlled paint brush strokes nor has concern been expressed by either candidate pertaining to the African citizens who experienced Jim Crow tactics in their attempts to vote.

Everyday we witness the turpitude and debauchery of this country, and everyday
we ignore it with too many of our people calling on a religion which keeps our
people steeped in mental slavery, and relying on a justice system which guarantees
our legal genocide.

Immanuel Chinua Obasi, Linden, N.J.

It seems clear that the importance of the Black vote can no longer be denied. Gore was kept close by means of the Black vote. Even given the facts that the Bush machine attempted to stop Blacks from voting and threw out 19,000 mostly black votes. Had this not been done Gore would be the clear winner. But the back up plan that will kill the power of the black vote is called the electoral college. This allows the mostly white small southern bigoted states the power to over rule the votes of over 50% of the people. This they call democracy.
We must stop giving our hopes and support to the lesser of the two evils. We must begin to support leaders who speak truth without fear. Minister Louis Farrakhan is such a leader. Let's get behind him for a change. Let's support our own.
