of wisdom from south of the border
There are words of advice coming from south of the
border that the American Government would be wise to consider.
President-elect Vincente Fox of Mexico during
recent interviews said that America should deal with its drug habit
(his words) and stop targeting countries like Mexico and Colombia
under the pretense of fighting a "war on drugs" when in
actuality the U.S. merely is establishing a presence in South Americaafter
having lost their footing in Panamaand fueling its military
industrial complex (our words).
"The United States year after year blames us.
Why?" President Fox asks. Then he raises questions to which the
American public must demand answers from the White House, because in
those answers are the solutions to halting the destruction of Americas
youth and reducing crime on her streets.
"Who lets the drugs into the United States?
Who is doing gigantic business in the United States, then sends down
millions of dollars that corrupt Mexican police officers and
government officials?" he asks.
Answers: It has been argued that the military
industrial complex feeds itself by keeping the drug trade goingfinancing
the drug runners and getting paid by the government to stop the drug
runners; that industrialists feed the system, those financiers who
make their money by destroying economies (and lives) and then
rebuilding those economies (These bankers make it unprofitable for a
farmer in Bolivia to grow crop to feed his people, but make it very
profitable to grow crop to feed the drug industry); that the White
House not only has involved itself in arms running, but also through
its CIA, DEA, FBI, etc., funnels drugs into the country and the inner
cities to fuel the chaos that keeps the Black community, in
particular, disorganized and fuels the other industrial complexprisons.
President-elect Fox tells the U.S. government other
truths: corruption has become "a culture and a behavior" in
this country and the appetite for drugs by U.S. citizens is fueling
the billion dollar drug trade. In other words, if you cure the
appetite, you kill the drug trade.
What has led the 13 million-plus people who indulge
in illicit drugs in this country to destroy their bodies? What has
caused the USA to become not only the worlds superpower, but the
worlds super junkie?
In a country awash in opulence, it is one of the
most spiritually-bankrupt nations on the earth. It is this spiritual
and moral void and the desire for immediate gratification that is
ripping the country of its youth and creativity that has made the U.S.
a world leader.
Considering the fiasco in Florida that has exposed
the flaws in the U.S.-electoral system, but more threateningly exposes
the deep rifts in the American population, the next president will be
too engulfed in partisan political fights and filibustering to bring
focus to this void in the country.
Thats unfortunate because it is these kinds of
voids and pre-occupation with worldly things that destroys nations.
They were partyingdrinking, smoking, getting
highwhen the end came, the Book says.
