Funeral services for Dr. Khalid Abdul Muhammad will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at 9 a.m. at Mount Olivet Church in Harlem, N.Y., at 120th Street and Malcolm X Boulevard. A wake will be held  on Friday, Feb. 23, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Unity Funeral Home in Harlem at 2352 8th Avenue.

Bro. Khalid, chairman of the New Black Panther Party, died Feb. 17 at Wellstar Kenneston Hospital in Marietta, Ga., from complications from a massive stroke he suffered on Feb. 14.  At the time of his death, Bro. Khalid was surrounded by his wife, family, friends and the National Committee of the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense.

�The 35 chapters of the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense lives on and carries out the instructions and teachings of our National Chairman, Minister Khalid Abdul Muhammad.  The strong work of the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense continues today, tomorrow and until the Black Nation is totally free.  The Party is uncompromised, too Black, too strong and completely intact,� the Party declared in a statement released at the time of Bro. Khalid�s passing.

Bro. Khalid held the post of national spokesman for the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam from 1991 until 1993. In an official statement, the Nation of Islam mourned the loss.

�We in the Nation of Islam mourn the loss of Brother Khalid Muhammad,� the statement said.  �We remember with gratitude the work and the good that he did to help the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan in the rebuilding of the work of the Nation of Islam.

�Our prayers are with his wife, children and with his followers.  May Allah be pleased with him and may Allah grant those who loved him with Divine peace.  We call on all who loved Brother Khalid and who have benefited from his work to double the pace in our struggle for the complete liberation of Black people in America and throughout the world,� the statement read.
