(FinalCall.com) -- If asked what the date May 4, 2001 meant to
the 2,200 men incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Center at
Coleman, Fla., those who know would say: Historic Event, or The Day
that Changed Everything. Those who do not know would say, nothing.
The truth is that May 4th was the day Allah, His
Messenger Muhammad, and the leadership of the Honorable Minister Louis
Farrakhan were established in strength at the Coleman federal complex.
It took a year of hard work by outside (State Prison
Ministry) supporters, Minister Anwar Muhammad and his assistant Brother
Richard Muhammad, of the Tampa, Fla., Study Group. Without the
compensation customarily afforded to Christian groups, Muhammads two
soldiers, week after week, attended the institutional Study Group
meetings, drawing crowds of inmates who were hungry for the teachings of
the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the leadership of Min. Farrakhan.
Raising the banner for the first time, Jumuah
service was begun with the call to prayer issued by the internal Study
Group Coordinator Joseph X (Frazier) calling the 25 members to the
worship of the one God, Allah. While there were many individuals that
wished to attend this historic event, participation was restricted to
those inmates with a documented (long term) attendance record with the
Nation of Islam.
Min. Anwars kutbah (sermon) began with an opening
invocation requesting Allahs blessings upon Min. Farrakhan, the
Believers and supporters in his work. Min. Anwar warmly thanked the
guests and talked about the importance of Jumuah. Taking great pains to
explain the prayer and its rituals, Min. Anwar explained how the energy
derived from Jumuah prayer can and does carry a Muslim for the next
five to six days. Drawing a parallel between the Hon. Elijah Muhammad
and Prophet Muhammad of Arabia, he eloquently described the outworking
of a peoples divine destiny.
Everything we do must be for Allah, the Minister
cried, concluding with a comprehensive view of the term: There is no
God but Allah and the psychology of this society to teach the worship
of other gods than Allah (God).
