Black
electorate can determine next president, key congressional races
WASHINGTON (Nov. 7)In a race analysts describe as too close to callboth
the Republican and Democratic parties have gone into a full court
press after the Black vote. The bottom line: the Black voter turnout
will determine the first president of the new millennium and which party
will control the United States House and Senate.

eliminate poverty?
Good words, little action,
won't solve crisis, experts note

campaign to eradicate poverty is being derailed by rising debt
burdens, declining development aid, volatile commodity markets and

A
day for family and commitment to action
Between the Capitol and the Lincoln
Memorial, the scene Oct. 16 looked like a massive family
reunionblankets were spread out, folding chairs set-up,
umbrellas unfolded and coolers open. However the predominantly
Black, but ethnically diverse crowd, had come not for a single
family reunion but as participants in the Million Family March.

Civil Rights Movement began during his high school years at Bronx

Organize
and Mobilize
by Minister Louis
Farrakhan
I recognize that its dangerous for
me to be a voice that unites the poor. Martin Luther King, Jr. was
murdered on his way to Washington with a Poor Peoples March because
the poor are the majority. And it is on the backs of the poor that the
rich and the government build their army, navy and their economic
power base. Anybody who can electrify the poor, as it was in the Roman
Empire with Jesus, becomes a threat to the powers that be.
