Fears of nuclear danger in Japan crisis and war on Libya are part of harrowing times
By Starla Muhammad -Staff Writer-
Updated Mar 23, 2011 - 8:32:42 PM
(FinalCall.com) - “The destruction and fall of the world that we have known is now without a doubt, in process. When we refer to the world, we are referring to the world of the White man, for the world of the Black man has yet to come in.”
These prophetic words have jumped from the pages of the groundbreaking book “The Fall of America,” written by the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad to real life. Recent events are manifesting his warnings daily, and being witnessed on a global level.
An onslaught of media reports covering cataclysmic natural disasters, heated uprisings of citizens against governments, governmental crackdowns against citizens, escalating tensions among former allies, and wars and rumors of wars, bear witness to the teaching, guidance and mission of Mr. Muhammad through his top student and representative, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.
Both of these mighty servants of Allah (God) teach that what happens abroad in foreign lands, will visit the shores of America. As a result of the inhumane and unjust treatment of the Black man and woman in America this destruction must come to pass, breaking the rule of Satan to usher in a new world order—one based on Freedom, Justice and Equality for the entire human family.
Japan quake/nuclear crisis, worldwide panic
Reports of fear and confusion continue gripping Japan and the rest of the world resulting from the nuclear crisis and radiation contamination from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station in the Futaba District damaged during the earthquake and tsunami.
Fallout from the devastating 9.0 magnitude quake triggered a tsunami that struck off the northeast coast of Japan on March 11 and continues reverberating around the world. The island nation is trying to recover from the fifth largest earthquake to hit the world since 1900.
According to Associated Press reports, the earthquake was 700 times more powerful than the quake that struck Haiti in 2010. It caused a rupture 186 miles long and 93 miles wide in the sea floor off the eastern coast of Japan.
One report said the quake moved Honshu, the country's main island eight feet to the east, sunk it downward by two feet, sped up the rotation of the Earth by 1.6 microseconds and shifted the Earth's axis by 6.5 inches. Such force damaged the nuclear reactors at Fukushima.
There are six nuclear reactors at the site. Prior to the quake, three reactors were shut down for previously planned maintenance. The earthquake caused huge waves from the tsunami that flooded the plant, knocking out power that makes the reactors run which cools the radioactive fuel inside. If the fuel does not cool down, a nuclear meltdown can occur. Prolonged exposure to radiation can cause cancer and irreversible cell damage. At Final Call press time, plant officials were still struggling to restore electrical power to the six reactors.
Radiation from Japan reached the UK March 23, according to the Daily Mail which said radioactive particles have reached Europe and are heading towards Britain in the wake of the catastrophe that officials say could cost up to £190billion —making it the costliest natural disaster in history
Many experts said the low levels should not pose any hazard. Others argue it should not be taken lightly. “In our view we should be very concerned,” said Linda Gunter, an international specialist and a spokesperson for Beyond Nuclear, an anti-nuclear advocacy group based in the U.S. The reactor that is in trouble in Japan, the GE Mark1 Boiling Water Reactor, is a very vulnerable design and there are 23 such reactors in the U.S. These types of reactors deliberately vent or release radioactive steam into the air to prevent a meltdown, said Mrs. Gunter.
Anti-nuclear demonstrations were held across Europe in response to the crisis in Japan. Media reports said protests were held in Spain, Germany, France and online petitions were initiated by anti-nuclear advocacy groups, demanding governments look for cleaner, safer energy sources.
Experts say wind, ice storms, tornados, hurricanes or even a broken tree branch can knock out electrical power, needed to run certain nuclear reactors. Close to 30 percent of electricity in Europe is furnished by nuclear power plants. European lawmakers planned on meeting March 24 and 25 as the EU determines what course of action if any will be taken regarding existing nuclear programs. Reports allege there are “deep divisions” about conducting stress tests on existing reactors.
The impact of the nuclear fallout on the world economy is already being felt. Japan has the world's 3rd largest economy and is a major U.S. trading partner. European stocks also took a major hit but have slowly rebounded.
Major Japanese companies Nissan, Nikon, Toyota, Honda, Sony and others halted production on certain goods. The BBC noted, Japan makes nearly a quarter of the world's supply of semiconductors, and also 40 percent of the world's electronic components
Financial website FXstreet.com says, “It's (Japan) a major exporter of high-tech equipment and autos, and a big importer of energy and other commodities … So, it goes without saying that a major disaster like the one Japan is experiencing will ripple through the global and domestic economy.” An estimated 20,000 are feared dead from the earthquake and tsunami at Final Call presstime.
Muniqui Dawud Muhammad from the United States, has lived in Sendai, Miyagi, Japan since 1998 and felt the full power of the earthquake. “I was on a train going to work. It departed at 2:44pm. The quake hit 2 or 3 minutes later. The driver hit the emergency brake and the train almost jumped the tracks as it was sliding to a halt … I started to understand how serious it was when I saw all the power was out and all cell phones were not functioning,” he said in an email to The Final Call.
Reports say evacuation facilities and shelters have filled to capacity. Food, water and medical supplies are scarce. An estimated 450,000 people have fled to shelters. Muniqui Muhammad was amazed to see the Japanese people orderly, “as if in ranks,” calmly waiting in lines at convenience stores for hours to pay cash for much needed supplies.
“Black people in America and in truth, almost all Americans have not been taught and trained about how to maintain order and civility in a crisis. Normal customers becomewild and savage, taking everything they see regardless to whether they need it or not. On the other hand, shop owners in the U.S. and other countries will raise prices on necessities in a disaster based on the ‘law of supply and demand', thus, so-called ‘price gouging' occurs,” he told The Final Call.
“That does not happen in Japan. The prices remain the same as they were before the natural disaster and in some cases, prices will go down. There is a spirit of oneness the Japanese people have that will not allow them to do that. We can learn a lot from them, in that respect.”
With foresight and wisdom, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad stressed to his followers, the need for canning food for storage and storing water in their homes to be prepared when disasters strike.
The tragedy in Japan has made U.S. and European headlines, but it is America and her allies continued involvement in the political affairs of the Middle East and Africa that is once again being scrutinized on the world stage. Their role in UN attacks on Libya show once again the propensity to meddle in foreign affairs to pursue their own interests.
Wars and rumors of wars
Under a barrage of missiles, Operation Odyssey Dawn, the air assault carried out by American, French and British forces against the African nation Libya started at nightfall on March 19, in response to a UN resolution that demanded a ceasefire and no fly zone for forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi that were battling rebels. Calls for a ceasefire and international monitors was rejected by officials as “insufficient.”
Unrest in the Middle East and Northern Africa have been reported in, Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, Syria, Jordan, Algeria, Djibouti, Morocco, Oman, Kuwait and Sudan, and in the Palestinian territories. Yet, like the U.S., the UK have remained relatively silent on reports of governmental crackdowns in these countries.
Prime Minister David Cameron has reportedly said “what we are doing is necessary, legal and right” regarding Libya. Military personnel also say that coalition forces are not “directly targeting” Col. Gadhafi, but his military compound in Tripoli was bombed.
Ignoring calls to let Libyans solve their problems on their own, the U.S. and her allies have once again intervened as the “world police.” The U.K. is now involved in combat missions in Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan.
“Great world of confusion – fighting is raging all over this World of those who love fighting. The proper thing that we Black Folks should do, today, is to unite together behind the Divine One who God Approves – the One whose work is seen – the one whose work is made manifest to the eye of The Whole Entire World,” writes the Honorable Elijah Muhammad in his book, “Our Saviour has Arrived.”
Minister Farrakhan has often warned of the hypocrisy of the U.S., and European nations foreign policies that continue appointing themselves as the moral standard for other countries. But critics argue the U.S., U.K. and others fail to live up to what they preach.
In a recent radio interview, Min. Farrakhan when asked about Libya explained, “Muammar Gadhafi has always been hated by Western, European, neo-colonial, imperialistic governments.” He warned President Obama to be careful and move with wisdom and skill when dealing with Libya.
“I warn you, In The Name of Allah, that this (Libya) is more complex than you think! Go into Libya if you want to. The Libyans do not want foreign occupation on their land. And when you make that kind of move, if you're not careful, you'll unite the Libyan people against you!” warned Min. Farrakhan.
Reuters news agency reports that only one in three Britons agree with military action in Libya. With austerity measures that have cut funds for much needed programs in the U.K. there is worry about how much this war will cost. “Haunted by the experience of the recent Iraq war and continued losses in Afghanistan, Britons told Reuters they were wary of getting dragged into another lengthy foreign conflict at a time of belt-tightening at home,” said a Reuters news report.
UK anti-war groups have staged protests expressing outrage and disappointment with British involvement in yet another military conflict.
On its website, stopwar.org.uk the group stated, “Stop the War Coalition is clear that there must be no U.S. or British intervention in Libya or anywhere else in the Middle East under any pretext whatsoever. Such interference over the last century is the root of the region's troubles, and its continuation will solve none of the difficulties there.”
“The future of Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Bahrain, Yemen and all the other states facing popular uprisings must be determined by the people of those countries alone. Solidarity with those fighting for their democratic and national freedom is our obligation,” continued stopwar.org.uk.
“What has happened across the Middle East, it's history making, it's earth shaking and there's no president that has faced so much turmoil,” said Abdul Akbar Muhammad, international representative of Min. Farrakhan. He said what is happening there today bears witness to instructions the Hon. Elijah Muhammad gave Min. Farrakhan in his experience on “The Wheel”, in which the Minister was told of U.S. plans to attack a country later revealed to be Libya.
“Those who can go back to review what he said in '86 and going right into the '90s, what he talked about, you can see that his words are coming true of where we stand at as a people, a nation and the world today,” Akbar Muhammad told The Final Call.
Min. Farrakhan gave a stern warning of guidance March 10, “They (people) don't like the way you (Pres. Obama) handled Mubarak! They don't like the way you're handling the situation in the Arab world!”
In an article titled “Libya: A conflict of self-interest posted on guardian.co.uk, columnist Andrew Murray said the onslaught by British, American and French forces had little to do with saving lives or supporting democracy in the Arab world but is about controlling the drive for change in the Middle East by western domination.
“The belief of the rulers of Bahrain and Yemen—that they have the west's blessing to do whatever is necessary to crush protest while Colonel Gaddafi is to be obliterated for doing much the same—is the starkest sign of this,” wrote Mr. Murray.
China, India and Russia and several African countries are among a growing list of nations expressing opposition and outright condemnation on the attacks on Libya. Turkey, the only Muslim member of NATO, opposes the current attacks. In a recent speech, Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country “will never point a gun at the Libyan people.”
The Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Minister Farrakhan have repeatedly warned that America and her allies will lose friendship and influence all over the world resulting from its foreign policy and interference in another country's affairs.
The worse is yet to come
In “The Fall of America,” Mr. Muhammad writes, “Now the same trouble and destruction that you read of as happening in other countries and to other nations—these same troubles and destruction, with their evil and gruesome sound, are knocking on the door of America!”
The worldwide calamities, destruction and clashes are happening with increased intensity and frequency, and as the Honorable Elijah Muhammad teaches, “The Worst is Yet to Come”.
There are over 100 nuclear power plants in the U.S. and 19 in the UK. A nuclear meltdown whether in Fukushima or the U.K., could potentially kill thousands of men, women and children not only within the immediate area, but the toxic chemicals could spread hundreds or thousands of miles potentially effecting thousands with acute radioactive poisoning.
There were 21,473 earthquakes worldwide in 2010. So far, in 2011, there have been 3,509 worldwide. In the British Isles, there have been nine minor earthquakes recorded within the last 30 days, according to the British Geological Survey. Many earthquakes have very low magnitudes or are undetectable, but the potential for devastation still exists.
There are currently 37 wars, conflicts, uprisings or disputes happening worldwide, according to globalsecurity.org, however that number increases when including Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain and Libya. Africa Sun News says there are at least 15 African countries currently at war, experiencing post war conflict or tension. In the UK and America, the number of anti-war protests are increasing.
The Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught and warned for over 40 years that the Fall of America was eminent but that its fall would usher in the “dawn of a new day”. Mr. Muhammad taught that America's loss of friendship is but one sign of trouble on the horizon. This prophecy echoed poignantly in words spoken by Min. Farrakhan in 1985. Minister Farrakhan said:
“America is losing friendship throughout the world. The Government of America is losing control of the country's institutions and losing power of her own mind. America is losing control of her world. In desperation, she feels that her guns, rockets, bombs and technology will keep her kingdom in power. However, more powerful kingdoms than America had to lay their burden down when the time came and America is no different. Neither her bombs, guns or technology will sustain this country. Time is declaring that America had better change or the end is upon her.
America's loss of control is a sign of the decline of her world. This fall can be checked, if America would believe in the warnings given by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, coming through me, warnings that I am not saying of anything that is not written in the Bible that we should expect in this time.”
